Fishing the Pere Marquette RiverThe Pere Marquette River is one of Michigan's most famous rivers. It rises from the confluence of the Middle Branch of the Pere Marquette, the Little South Branch and the Baldwin River near the town of Baldwin, MI and meets Lake Michigan near the town of Ludington, MI. The Pere Marquette is home to Brown Trout and Rainbow Trout, plus hosts Fall/Winter & Spring runs of Lake Michigan Steelhead and Summer/Fall runs of Chinook Salmon. Lake-run Brown Trout also follow the Steelhead and Salmon up river to feast on their eggs. Fishermen catch these fish using flyfishing and spinfishing techniques. You can wade the river, rent a canoe, kayak or raft or hire a fishing guide. Current fishing report for the Pere Marquette River near Baldwin, Michigan Photo gallery of fish from the Pere Marquette.
