Cross Country Skiing

Barothy Lodge has miles of hiking and cross country skiing trails right outside the door of your lodge. Since we're in the heart of the Huron-Manistee National Forest, we are surrounded by public lands where you can roam for hours.

Snowmobiling

Across North America's snow country, snowmobilers have banded together in clubs that go beyond just sledding together for fun. They fund, create and maintain an intricate network of trails, providing the highest level of riding enjoyment to snowmobilers. Barothy Lodge is located a few miles from a branch of the North American Snowmobile Trail System near Baldwin, MI.

Downhill Skiing

Northwestern Michigan offers many downhill skiing opportunities. Here is a listing of ski areas near Barothy Lodge, listed nearest to farthest.

• Crystal Mountain - Thompsonville, MI (approx 75 miles)

Additional ski areas are located farther north near Traverse City MI, Gaylord MI and Charlevoix MI, such as Homestead, Boyne Mountain, Boyne Highlands, Shanty Creek, Otsego Ski Club.

Winter Fishing on the Pere Marquette River

Many Steelhead stay in the river through the winter, and they can be caught. There's nothing like hooking into 10 to 15 pounds of "silver bullet" to warm you up in a hurry.
