Fishing Regulations for Barothy Ponds

Any person not following these regulations will not be permitted to continue fishing.

Barothy Lodge has 4 fishing ponds on the property; 3 small trout ponds and 1 large warmwater pond (see map). We welcome you to fish the ponds. Fishing in our ponds is a wonderful way for both the experienced and novice angler to fish. It's also a great way to introduce kids to fishing and wildlife. The wide variety of fish in these ponds live and thrive in a carefully controlled environment. We ask for your cooperation in helping maintain the health of these fish so that others may enjoy them. Please follow the instructions below and enjoy the ponds as much as we do. Thank you.

1) To fish in our ponds you must first come to the office and let us know that you will be fishing. We will issue you a permit and a plastic pail to carry your fish.

2) Pond fishing hours start at 9:00am. All fish must be accounted for at the office by 9:oopm. On checkout day, fishing and fish cleaning must be completed by 1:00pm.

3) Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

4) Personal vehicles are not allowed access to the fishing area.

5) Catch and release of fish (OTHER THAN TROUT) is permitted in the bluegill/bass/perch/catfish pond only. (The large pond with the fishing deck)

Catch and release means the IMMEDIATE RELEASE of a fish back into the pond. If you put a fish into the bucket, you keep it and pay for it. No fish is to be dumped out of a bucket back into the pond.

TROUT: $5.00 each (No catch & release in trout ponds)
BASS: $3.00 each
CATFISH: $3.00 each
PERCH: $3.00 each
BLUE GILL: $1.50 each

6) After fishing, pack all litter and fishing tackle out of the area. Bring fish to the office before cleaning. We will tally the various species for our records. You may pay at that time or add them to your bill.

7) DO NOT CLEAN FISH AT THE POND AREA OR AT YOUR LODGE. A fish cleaning station is provided behind the garage area. All fish taken from the ponds or the river are to be cleaned there. Please rinse the pail and return it to the office.
